Man charged with manslaughter after fatal DUI solo-car crash in San Bruno

The 29-year-old was driving under the influence when he crashed into a light pole, killing his passenger, Eric Perez Ramos, 22, of San Francisco.

A man driving under the influence has been charged with manslaughter after a fatal solo-car crash, according to a prosecutor.

Briand Dominguez Torres, 29, of San Francisco, was arrested Sunday after crashing into a light pole near El Camino Real and westbound Interstate 380, killing Eric Perez Ramos, Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Baum said.

Dominguez Torres and Ramos were leaving Taqueria Leon at 551 San Mateo Ave when Dominguez Torres crashed into a light pole at 12:51 a.m, according to San Bruno Police.

The San Bruno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and determined Dominguez Torres was under the influence of alcohol. Investigators also found a small bag of cocaine in his wallet, according to Baum.

Both men were transported to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital with major injuries, Sgt. Scott Smithmatung said. Ramos, 22, of San Francisco, later died at the hospital from his injuries.

Dominguez Torres is in jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.
